Patching a roof that has reached the end of its life costs more every winter. The nails and battens holding the tiles rust and rot, the old felt underneath turns brittle and splits, and once water gets past a slipped tile it runs straight onto the timbers. When the repairs keep coming back, a full re-roof is the cheaper answer over the next 30 years.
Our re-roofs are the whole job, not an overlay. The old tiles, battens and felt come off and go in the skip. With the roof open we check every rafter, purlin and wall plate and replace anything rotten. Then a breathable membrane goes on, new treated battens are set out to the gauge of the new tile, and the roof is covered in the tile or slate you choose. The ridge, hips and verges are finished with dry fix systems, so there is no mortar left to crack and wash into the gutter.
