Roofers in Tunbridge Wells for Regency terraces, Victorian villas, tile-hung Wealden houses and the post-war estates. Ring 01273 110909 or send the form and William will give you a free quote.
Royal Tunbridge Wells is a spa town built largely in the Regency and Victorian years. Around the Pantiles, Mount Sion and Calverley Park the roofs are Welsh slate behind parapets and stuccoed fronts, while the big villas on the roads out to Southborough and Pembury carry Kent clay tiles, tall chimneys and tile-hung upper walls.
On the slate roofs the usual faults are slates sliding off rusted nails, lead valley and parapet gutters that have split, and cracked chimney flaunching. The clay roofs lose tiles as the nibs and pegs give way, and tile-hanging on the gables and bays works loose in the wind off the High Weald.
Further out, the inter-war semis and the post-war estates at Sherwood, Showfields and Ravenswood have concrete-tile roofs, where the work is ridges and verges, felt that has perished at the eaves and flat-roofed extensions and garages.
Tunbridge Wells is about 28 miles north-east of our Brighton base, out through Lewes and up the A26 by Uckfield and Crowborough. We cover the town, Southborough, Rusthall, Langton Green, Pembury, Speldhurst and Frant, and William comes to every quote himself.
Most roof repairs in Tunbridge Wells come down to slipped slates and split lead valleys on the Regency terraces, lost clay tiles and loose tile-hanging on the Victorian villas, and chimneys that need new flaunching and chimney and lead work. We trace the leak from the roof and the loft before quoting.
A new roof on a clay-tiled villa means stripping to the rafters, new breathable membrane and battens, and relaying sound tiles with matched reclaimed ones. On the estate semis at Sherwood and Showfields it is new tiles with dry ridge and dry verge, and extensions get a new deck and a felt, EPDM or GRP covering. Our new roof cost guide gives 2026 budgets.
